Weekend lockdown returns; Night curfew to remain in force Srinagar, Jan 15 (KNO): Amid increase in COVID-19 cases, the Jammu and Kashmir government on Saturday announced that there will be complete restrictions on non—essential movements during weekends in the entire Union Territory. In an order, the state executive committee, has announced that there will be complete restrictions on non—essential movements during weekends in entire J&K. “Night curfew shall continue to remain in force in all districts from 9 pm to 6 am with complete restriction on non—essential movement,” reads the order, a copy of which is in possession of news agency—Kashmir News Observer.  #lockdown #covid #covidcurfew

Unbeatable Cold Freez in Kashmir Valley, Ladakh - 3.4°C In Srinagar, - 23.8°C in Drass In Jan 14, Srinagar Kashmir Freezing cold conditions continued in Valley and Ladakh with Srinagar, the summer capital of J&K, recording a low of - 3.4°C.  A meteorological department official here told GNS that the minimum temperature in Srinagar was down by 9 notches than previous night’s minus 2.7°C. It was minus 1.3°C below normal for this time of the year. Kashmir is presently under the grip of 40-day long harshest period of winter, known locally as ‘Chillai Kalan, which started from December 21. It is followed by a 20-day long ‘Chillai Khurd’ and a 10-day-long ‘Chilla Bachha’. Gulmarg recorded a low of minus 10.5°C against minus 11.0°C on the previous night, he said. The temperature was minus 2.6°C below normal for this time of the year in the famous resort in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.    Pahalgam, the famous resort in south Kashmir, recorded a low of minus 10.3°C again

MBBS girl student from Budgam dies in Bangladesh A 25-year-old girl from Central Kashmir's Budgam district, who was pursuing MBBS in Bangladesh, died on Wednesday.
